Australia officially adopted the Disruptive Camouflage Pattern in 1985. This iconic Australian uniform was known as the Disruptive Camouflage Pattern Uniform (DPCU), but was given several nicknames throughout its time in service. Soldiers and surplus aficionados often call the pattern AUSCAM, bunny cam and Ozcam.
The pattern is no longer in active use, being discontinued in 2021 in favor of the Multicam variant AMCU.
These pants were produced as part of the last iteration of DPCU clothing, Land 125. The Land 125 program was a major initiative by the Australian Defence Force to modernize and enhance the capabilities of its infantry soldiers. It focused on providing advanced, modular equipment systems, allowing for greater customization and adaptability. Key improvements included upgraded body armor, new uniform designs, enhanced communication tools, and advanced night vision capabilities.
